Three Against Thousands

Esquimalt Buccaneer Days Parade 11 June 2011

Those were the odds when the fleet of three Minis/MINIs weighed anchor with the weather favouring our route.  As we tacked in a Westerly manner into Esquimalt Rd. Passage, we were rigged out and our booty safely stowed.  The President, heavily loaded with booty took up the lead into uncharted waters full of others ready and willing to take our treasures.  John was at the helm of his heavily modified stealth Mini.  Krista and her faithful companion bravely protected the approach from behind.    Sure enough, before we proceeded to complete one league from our safe anchorage, John was descended upon by a fearsome group of child pirates and this continued throughout our journey.  Having planned ahead, he was able to ensure our safe passage by providing bribes to all willing to reach out and there were many. We missed Bob and his cannons to protect us, and I can only say that good fortune favoured us this day.  All Along the route we were cheered and we won the hearts of all that ventured out that day.  Photographers everywhere flashed and one that bravely stood in our path was Virginia defying all mayhem around her, snapped the shots and now you too can see those pictures.  Perhaps, it was the President’s “We Want the Cup” Canuck flags, but truly, it was the cut of our jibs.  After transiting the treacherous passage we found a safe haven at CFB Esquimalt’s Chiefs & Petty Officers Mess where we quaffed down grog like substance called coffee and enjoyed the sea views.
